wallet update & GO BADGERS!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I did not ever receive my old wallet in the mail as I had hoped I would. I did however get a new Military ID, Driver's License, all new credit/debit cards AND...my beautiful mom sent me a cute new wallet in the mail! So, other than the missing cash, I'd say I came out ahead!

Thanks everyone for your concern and good wishes.
ALSO, GO BADGERS!!!!! We'll be watching the game with our college friends that are visiting. I'll update soon about their visit and the trips we took while they were here.
Here are some old tailgating pictures to get everyone in the mood!!!

a lost wallet

so it's been a while since we updated the Blog, but I thought I'd explain why:

So last Sunday was my dear friend Beth's Birthday and I was able to fly in to Milwaukee that morning prior to working in Chicago for the week. I flew in and had a wonderful day with my parents and grabbed a couple beers with Beth. Then back home to enjoy a family dinner with my parents, my brother and sister-in-law, my cousins and their spouses! It was a quick visit, but wonderful at the same time- and I got to meet my parent's new dog.

The next day I headed to Chicago and stayed the first night with another dear friend, Adina. She and I lived together there for a year and a half and it's nice to spend some time together- and I get to cook her yummy meals when I come back! It was a great night and then the next morning I packed up my suitcase and headed to work because I was going to check into my hotel right after. As I was getting out of the cab, I thought I should keep my wallet in my hand because I'd need it to get through security in the building. As I walked inside the building, I realized I had left the wallet in the cab! I quickly called the cab company and told them my issue and they said I would have to call back in an hour and a half when the Lost & Found Dept. opened. I didn't like that answer, as I felt like if they had just dispatched all of their cabs to say whoever just left that location should return with the wallet I would get my wallet back.

So, I called back in an hour and a half and spoke with a lady who was very unhelpful and even less hopeful that it would turn up. I didn't really worry about it because I was almost certain it would turn up. At the end of the day, I called again and there was still no word. To get me through the night, a friend from work gave me a bunch of cash for cabs and dinner. I struggled checking in to the Hotel, as I had put a hold on all of my cards, but eventually I got in and everything worked out fine.

The next day I called again- without any success. So a friend from work bought me lunch, and another friend from work took me to dinner! I was really excited for Thursday night because a bunch of girlfriends and I were going to grab dinner and then to the Brew & View to see a couple girly movies. When we got to the Brew & View, though, they wouldn't let me in because I didn't have any ID to show that I am over 21. That was pretty much the last straw for me and I left and just started crying. I called Stefan and grabbed a cab back to the Hotel. As I was crying on the phone and saying to Stefan "...I have no money..." the driver overheard me and he quickly asked if everything was ok. I assured him everything was fine and that I had cash to pay him, but I was just upset about losing my wallet. He handed me some tissues and asked to hear the whole story. He was a wonderfully generous cabbie- he even asked me what time I had to go to the airport the next day because he would take me without charge. I politely declined as a friend from work offered to driver me. I paid him even though he said I shouldn't, and I left the cab thinking everything was going to be okay. When I got back to my room they had left a chocolate covered fortune cookie on my pillow after turning down the bedding. I cracked it open, ate the cookie and red the fortune. It said: "Don't give up, the best is yet to come" So with a renewed sense of faith that my wallet would return to me, I went to bed.

The next day, I hopped in a cab with all of my luggage and headed to work. The topic again came up with that driver and he told me about one of his cabbie friends who found some girl's wallet who was from Texas. That cab driver apparently took the cash and mailed everything else back. I was kind of hoping that would be me he was talking about!

Stefan had to FedEx my passport, our marriage license, and a copy of my old and new social security card, and some blank checks to me. My passport still says 'Fronk' on it, so I needed the other documents to verify that I am now Idso. I made it through security and back to San Antonio safely.

All in all, I'm back and still walletless. I ordered all new credit cards for us, got a new military ID, and applied for a new license. Annoying, but not life threatening... Hope those cards show up soon because we have 4 visitors arriving on Friday night and we have a long list of things we're wanting to do!
